FAQs... Eco Fabrics

What types of eco-friendly materials are used in Linwood’s eco fabrics?

Linwood’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in our eco fabric range. We use recycled wool, cotton woven from offcuts from the fashion industry, and natural, sustainable materials like linen, known for being one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics to produce.

How does Linwood ensure the sustainability of its eco fabrics?

At Linwood, we are dedicated to producing eco fabrics that are both high-quality and environmentally responsible. We choose materials that minimise harm to the earth, focusing on recycled and sustainable options, and employ processes that reduce environmental impact.

Can Linwood’s eco fabrics be used for both upholstery and curtains?

Yes, our eco fabrics are versatile and suitable for a variety of applications. They are designed to be durable enough for upholstery while also possessing the elegance and drape required for beautiful curtains, allowing you to make sustainable choices without compromising on style or functionality.

What are the benefits of choosing eco fabrics for home décor?

Choosing eco fabrics for your home decor not only contributes to a healthier environment but also ensures that you are bringing materials into your home that meet high standards of sustainability and quality. Linwood’s eco fabrics offer the perfect blend of eco-consciousness, durability and style.

Are there eco-friendly or sustainable upholstery fabric choices available?

There are several ways in which an upholstery fabric can be sustainable: some fabrics feature fibres that are inherently eco-friendly; others are made from recycled materials that would otherwise end up in landfill. Fabrics that are produced locally are good for the carbon footprint, as they require less transportation. One of the most naturally sustainable fabrics is linen, as it is grown from the flax plant which require no additional water other than rainwater. Linwood has a large range of linen upholstery fabrics including Elba, a collection of 48 plain coloured linens, The English Garden, a range of florals, and Bibi and Small Prints, new, vibrant print collections. Linwood has also worked hard to develop recycled fabric options: Verde is a cotton upholstery fabric made using 80 per cent recycled cotton, while Omega III is a collection o plain velvets made from 60 per cent recycled polyester. Saddle is an upholstery leather manufactured using offcuts from shoes and bags and Lana is a versatile wool fabric made using recycled wool from the fashion industry. Sourcing and producing in the UK is an important way to reduce our environmental impact, and the classic Ollaberry & Roxburgh collection exemplifies this by using pure wool that is woven in Lancashire. Wool fabrics are also inherently fire retardant, so they don’t require harmful chemicals.
